The State Police has taken numerous security measures in the area around the Parliament, a few hours before the plenary session and the protest announced by the opposition.
Around 1,500 police officers have been placed on standby to monitor the situation during the rally. Some of them are positioned at the entrance to the Parliament building, equipped with shields and other safety equipment, including fire extinguishers.
Since last evening, the area around the Parliament has been surrounded by metal fences, while behind them a security cordon has been set up with law enforcement and Rapid Intervention Forces personnel.
Specialized vehicles with pressurized water have also been deployed inside the Parliament premises, which are used in the event of an escalation of the situation during protests.
According to sources, the Democratic Party is expected to hold a protest both inside and outside Parliament, in protest against the majority's stance on not arresting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku.
The police have announced that from 6:00 AM until the end of the rally, traffic will be restricted on "George W. Bush" Street near the Parliament building.
Authorities warn that, depending on the development of the protest, there may be restrictions on other roads, while citizens are recommended to use alternative routes for traffic.
