Rama criticizes the EU from Brussels: the Balkans should be integrated into the
Prime Minister Edi Rama in Brussels

Prime Minister Edi Rama from Brussels, as he participated in a joint conference with the counterpart of Montenegro, Milojko Spajic, and the President of the European Committee for Economy and Social Affairs, Oliver Ropke, focused on the issue of integration.

After the meetings, Rama said that the economic growth plan is the first step for our countries to be part of the EU. He said that the European Union and the Western Balkans should find an opportunity for the journey of these countries towards the EU.

"This is good news coming from an exemplary organization of the complex of institutions such as the Economy Committee that decided to take bold steps by giving all candidate countries the opportunity to be part of the community that consists of member states. This is the first excellent example of how we need to foresee the near future and that we need to agree with our friends in the EU on different approaches to do things together allowing us to be part of spaces of dialogue, interaction of cooperation that this organization offers to members.

Having our places in the Committee in the full sense without voting rights is what must happen in the near future for the Western Balkans that must find the way that the journey to membership must be a journey of cooperation and organic interaction that must be offered by EU.

I believe that it is time for the EU to understand that the candidate countries of the Western Balkans are not mature enough, but are in a situation where they deserve to be embraced and brought closer without necessarily being a member with full rights, as is the ultimate goal of the process. Rama said.
