Democratic Party MP Klevis Balliu has reacted to the State Department report on the investment climate in Albania.
He said that the United States has confirmed the mafia-style drug money laundering scheme in Albania. Balliu mentioned international investigations such as the “Rama-Aruba File,” where, according to him, senior officials have been caught planning with drug cartels.
The DP MP accuses the government of allowing millions of euros of crime to be invested in construction, destroying the market and making life difficult for citizens. He demands a full investigation and criminal punishment, starting with Prime Minister Edi Rama himself.
"DASH confirms drug money laundering scheme under Rama's government.
For years we have denounced the government's connections with drug trafficking networks. Today, these facts are confirmed by the State Department and international investigations, such as the "Rama-Aruba File", where senior government officials have sat down with drug cartels to plan money laundering in the towers that are springing up every day in Tirana.
According to the report, drug money has destroyed market equilibrium, driven up housing prices and impoverished young families. While ordinary citizens were punished for "informality", the government allowed criminal money to flow freely into massive construction.
"We need transparency, a full investigation of the sources of funds, and criminal liability for every official involved, starting with Edvin Kristaq Rama himself ," said Balliu.
