"Parliament of thieves", Berisha warns of continued protests: We will
Sali Berisha

Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha declared that the protest held yesterday represented a civic commitment against what he described as a regime linked to crime, drugs and the robbery of Albanians.

During his speech in front of the prime minister's office, Berisha thanked his supporters for their presence and resistance, presenting them as a voice against injustice and the political situation in the country.

He said that the opposition chose to highlight the dissatisfaction of citizens, instead of a regular political activity. According to him, this was a way to mark a moment related to the political history of the Democratic Party and the rejection of the current government.

Berisha compared this stance to the overthrow of the communist system 34 years ago and said that the same determination will be used against what he described as a dictatorship of drugs, crime and theft.

He further called on citizens to reflect every day on the situation in Albania, the state of society and the future of the country. According to him, anyone who analyzes the current crisis and the political situation comes to the conclusion that protests and revolts remain ways to confront the regime.

Berisha:  Boundless gratitude to you. Persistent as the voice of conscience of a nation that does not agree with evil, injustice. Yesterday, we chose not speeches, but the voice of anger, the feelings of citizens to honor a great day. We chose the civic revolt, to prove that the DP that 34 years ago brought the democratic system to this country will never agree with the dictatorship of drugs, crime, and the violation of the state and Albanian citizens. So, yesterday's revolt more than anything else was a civic commitment that just as we overthrew the great evil 34 years ago, so we will overthrow and we are standing to overthrow the dictatorship of drugs, crime and theft of Albanians.

Every Albanian is invited to think or give a few minutes a day of their opinion about their country, about the state of Albania, Albanian society, its future. This is the most legitimate request, the minimum obligation we have. I have the deep conviction that anyone who stops to meditate and think about the deep crisis, the crossroads where we are, will give the answer that revolt and protest are the only way to overthrow this regime.

He described it as the "Parliament of Thieves", and called the Prime Minister "The Chief Thief of the Nation".

Berisha said that the opposition has been submitting requests to the Assembly for 7 months, but the majority rejects them, and out of fear, even the Speaker of Parliament Niko Peleshi did not take the DP deputies on his visit to Germany.

"After May 11, the ugliest electoral farce in the history of pluralism, 7 months have passed, a parliament has been installed in Tirana, I invite the citizens, those 600 thousand Albanians, who, under conditions of terror, voted for opposition deputies, to ask themselves, what is the role of these deputies in Parliament? This role is zero, zero, zero! The sovereign has appointed them in Parliament to hold the government accountable for its positions. For seven months now, the chief thief of the nation has been refusing every question and interpellation in Parliament, regardless of the law and the constitution. The deputies are obliged to establish parliamentary committees, to present to the citizens the thefts, the faults, the mistakes of the government. But for the first time in history, no parliamentary committee is allowed in the Assembly ," Berisha said, among other things.

The opposition leader explained that they have requested laws and amendments, but even those have not been allowed in Parliament. But the "pirate" majority, according to him, has excluded them from any initiative.

"There, MPs present laws and amendments on behalf of citizens, but none of them are presented there, proposed by the opposition. Parliament represents the power that comes from the citizens' vote, but this Parliament only represents thieves, as the opposition is excluded from any representation," he said.
