Berisha and Rama in the race, one for a return to power, the other for a fourth term...
Political parties will start the 'engines' of the electoral campaign for the May 11 parliamentary elections today.
A month of electoral fever between the camps competing for power and those seeking to break the SP-PD binomial for the first time since pluralism in Albania.
The Socialists and Prime Minister Edi Rama will seek a fourth mandate after 12 years of governance, with their slogan "Albania 2030 in the EU", while the Democrats will seek the mandate to return to power after 12 years, after a long internal political war and with several factions competing separately for parliamentary mandates.
A month of campaigning that foresees a busy agenda of electoral meetings in all 12 districts of the country, for the 140 mandates of the Assembly, where each force or coalition, according to the new electoral formula, has 186 candidates for deputies, where 46 are from the closed list and 140 from the open list.

Asked what the expectations were for the number of mandates that the Alliance for a Greater Albania would expect from May 11, Berisha preferred not to speak in numbers.
"I never give percentages and numbers, because I am not a prophet. What I do is to ensure major national and international support for the victory of May 11 and I believe that these are evident. Look at the enthusiasm that exists and the legitimate optimism that exists today in Albania," Berisha said.
