Prime Minister Edi Rama's clash at the Security Council table with the Russian ambassador after echoing in the international media has also gone viral on the TikTok social network.
His statement "there is a solution to this, if you agree, stop the war and President Zelensky will not take the floor", more than the rest of his statements, grabbed the headlines.
These articles reported the chief executive's resistance to Russia's ambassador to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, causing him to lose his cool.
Nebenzia called Volodymyr Zelensky's presence at the Council meeting a violation, describing it as a step that creates danger, and asked Rama, as the leader of the highly tense session, not to give the Ukrainian president the right to speak.
But Rama, already known for his cutting humor, writes Reuters, cut him short. The comment of the prime minister of Albania did not only conquer the traditional media. He practically turned Rama into a star on TikTok, where the speech of the head of the Albanian government towards the representative of the Russian Federation spread rapidly.
The session of the Security Council, focused on the war in Ukraine with Albania as the next president of the highest governing body of the United Nations, was marked by red and black colors, not only by Rama's clear resonating tones, but also by the presence of great Albanian there.
Four other Albanian leaders besides Rama at the meeting of the Security Council: President Bajram Begaj, the president of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, the acting Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dritan Abazovic and the Foreign Minister of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani, in the capacity of representatives of the OSCE.
Nebenzia objected to the presence of the latter, asking Rama to account on what basis he invited the Foreign Minister of North Macedonia to a meeting, in the capacity of the chairman of the OSCE, only to receive his ironic answer, that this it is not a special operation of the Albanian Presidency, but consolidated practice in the Security Council.
