Prime Minister Rama has announced that the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will visit Albania tomorrow.
Rama said that this is a very special moment, as Sheikh bin Zayed is an old friend of Albanians and a very dear figure to them. The Prime Minister emphasized the close friendly relations between the two countries and expressed enthusiasm for this visit, which is expected to further strengthen ties between the countries.
Rama also said that Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan promoted the agreement for the port of Durres and played a key role in the trilateral agreement with Italy for the underwater energy connection.
"Tomorrow we have a very special visit. For the first time, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, an old friend of Albanians and very dear to me personally, is landing in Albania as president of the United Arab Emirates. He landed in Albania before in '99, on the runway of the Kukes Airport, which was laid by his father, the founder of the United Arab Emirates in support of brothers and sisters forcibly displaced from Kosovo.
At that time, they brought very large amounts of aid, on that specially paved runway. The president who will honor us with his visit tomorrow came on the heels of his father. The visit of the president of the Emirates and one of the most respected leaders of today's world marks a very important milestone on the path of a friendship and partnership that has been greatly strengthened in recent years.
"Bin Zayed was the largest donor after the devastating earthquake in Durres. The new exemplary reconstruction ward at the hospital was entirely financed by him. He promoted the agreement for the tourist port of Durres and was key in the tripartite agreement with Italy for the underwater energy connection ," Rama said.
