Albania's progress in the EU, Koçiu: The opposition did not succeed
Albana Koçiu

The government today approved the roadmap for the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and strategic partnership with UN agencies. The decisions were made public during a press conference by Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu, according to which the document contains 66 measurable criteria that will guide the work of public institutions in accordance with Albania's '20-30 agenda, European development and integration, and the UN's sustainable development.

"The document is the strategic partnership between the institutions and the Albanian Government with United Nations agencies for the years 2027-2031 that has undergone an extensive phase of public consultations based on sustainable human capital development, sustainable economic transformation and green growth, thirdly, good governance, justice and human rights," said Koçiu.

She said that the aspiration is to begin discussions on the 10 final chapters within the year.

"We are working, we are waiting for the conclusion of the 8th Intergovernmental Conference, we are waiting for the recommendations for the final conditions and the aspiration is that within this year we have started discussions for 10 chapters. We need to sit down at the table with the European side to discuss all the tasks and recommendations one by one," said Koçiu.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that there is no harm to Albania's progress, despite the opposition's attempt to tarnish the process.

"All these decisions have not affected Albania's progress nor have they called into question its relationship with justice. They are simply allusions by the opposition and those who smear it daily. We are discussing and negotiating to close the group chapters within this decade. They must accept that we are doing our tasks with dedication and seriousness, and the EU recognizes our progress," said Koçiu.

She added that no interpretations should be made of the IBAR report beyond what has been written.

"The IBAR report should be read well and clearly, as it is written. It is good not to misinterpret what is written in the European Commission reports because it is technical language that at the end of the day orients institutions to carry out and undertake commitments," said the Deputy Prime Minister.
