The ambassador of the European delegation in Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, has submitted the EU report for Albania for 2024 to Prime Minister Rama Progress.
During his speech from the joint conference with Rama, Ambassador Silvio Gonzato spoke about the progress achieved, while emphasizing the necessity to continue the fight against corruption.
He said that the EU appreciates Albania's efforts to improve the fight against corruption. Gonzato has supported the work of SPAK giving a strong blow to the government. He told Rama that the only way to the EU is to fulfill three conditions.
"The report provides a fair view of where the country stands. Some of the report's key findings. Regarding the political criterion, the report evaluates the function of the law as partially satisfactory. Also due to the shortcomings not addressed in the electoral process. The main message is the urgent need for a constructive dialogue. The function of the judiciary occupies a large space, the function is somewhat progressing, concerns remain about interference in the judicial system. The report makes recommendations to address the issues. As for the efficiency of justice, I can say that progress is being made. Corruption is seen as a serious concern even though the report notes concrete work. The Commission sees efforts to improve the fight against corruption. Progress is needed. When it comes to the fight against crime, some progress has been made again thanks to SPAK which has increased the capacity in the fight against money laundering", said Ambassador Silvio Gonzato.
