A protest announced by Adriatik Lapaj and activists of the "Albania Becomes" movement is taking place in front of the Prime Minister's Office.
Adriatik Lapaj said during his speech that the government is in the service of crime and that it has only sown fear and drugs in the country.
"This state of shame, which led Albania to this great destruction. There is no nation in the world where drugs and organized crime become a system, poverty and corruption prevail. Bad governance and autocracy prevail because the state is placed in the function of crime and this must be fought. Whether drugs are white or red, the suffering for the nation from those who place states in the function of drugs deserves a great war of an international alliance against them. They will be remembered as the government that planted drugs and fear. Therefore, we must cut it off from the roots. Edi Rama, you thief," he said.
Hundreds of citizens and supporters were seen on the boulevard this evening, waving flags and banners and chanting against the government.
With chants of "Edi Rama, coward" and "Resign", they marched to the prime minister's office on the main boulevard.
They also held a large banner with Marco Rubio's message about drug cartels.
The protest was called to denounce corruption, the capture of institutions and the abuse of public assets.
