Prime Minister Edi Rama gathered the Socialist Party parliamentary group this Saturday, where he spoke about the recent protests and the debate created around the tourist project in the Zvërnec area.
During his speech before Socialist MPs, Rama spoke about the way public debate is conducted nowadays, linking it to the influence of social networks and the mechanisms that, according to him, fuel the ongoing conflict.
The head of government said that the phenomena seen today in politics and society have long been explained by philosophers and historians, long before the era of the internet, Facebook, and TikTok.
According to Rama, part of the public debate no longer aims to solve problems, but to keep them constantly in the spotlight.
"We can only do what is done to understand politics today. There is much of this today that philosophers and historians have described long before we, Facebook and Tik Tok came along. They can help us understand what is happening. One of those who did not live in the internet era, helps us understand much faster the mechanism that so successfully feeds the history of algorithms. When criticism becomes identity and when man no longer fights for the problem to be solved, but for it to never end. Because when the problem is solved, another problem must be found. Of course, politics is not a kitchen, but human mechanisms do not change that much and neither do political ones. The object changes, the mechanism remains. Today it is a project, tomorrow a law, then an alliance, then a drunk guard or policeman. The object does not matter, what matters is that the engine does not stop. Because when it stops, there is no more fuel ," Rama said.
