Democratic Party MP and chairwoman of the Culture Committee, Ina Zhupa, has reacted to the reconstructions being carried out at the infamous Spaç prison.
Zhupa has requested a hearing in the commission with Minister Blendi Gonxhe and the director of IKTK, representatives of associations of the formerly persecuted, organizations and foundations focusing on this issue. She emphasizes that no one can embellish or alter history.
"I have followed with concern the construction activity in Spaç prison, with works that erase the traces of time, seriously endangering the authentic values of the facility. These interventions contradict the living testimonies of former political prisoners in this prison and the archival records of the time.
As the chairwoman of the committee responsible for cultural heritage and education, given the lack of response from institutions, I have decided to immediately request the suspension of the proceedings and a hearing in the committee with Minister Blendi Gonxhe, the director of IKTK, representatives of associations of the formerly persecuted, and organizations and foundations focusing on this issue.
No one can retouch, embellish, or alter history!
"History is learned and transmitted to be repeated, not embellished for propaganda," said Zhupa.
