The Political Dialogue Forum, led by Ermal Hasimja, has advanced negotiations with opposition parties, marking a concrete step towards a common position on electoral reform.

The recent talks have been considered fruitful and have led to the rapprochement of the three political forces on several key points of the Electoral Code.

According to sources, the Democratic Party, “Albania Becomes” and the LZHK have agreed in principle to propose a national proportional system, 100% open lists and the permission of pre-election coalitions. This package is expected to be formalized in a draft that will be presented to the Assembly in the coming days.

The Forum's representative, Ermal Hasimja, confirms that the negotiations have produced a preliminary agreement, while work continues on the technical details.

" Over the past weeks, we have talked with the leaders of the main parties and have reached an agreement in principle, while we are working on the concrete details. The national proportional system with open lists and pre-election coalitions has been proposed by the Forum itself and two opposition parties. The Democratic Party has accepted the proposal. Currently, work is being done on the concrete details ," Hasimja said.

However, the process remains open, as negotiations continue with other opposition forces, and it remains to be seen whether a unified position will be reached.

On the other hand, the Socialist Party has articulated different positions on the reform, signaling a reduction in the number of deputies to 100 and the possibility of constitutional changes through a referendum. The clash of these approaches is expected to determine the fate of electoral reform in the coming months.
