"The government uses embassies to control the diaspora vote",

Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku accused the government of attempting to manipulate the diaspora vote in the May 11 parliamentary elections.

Tabaku stated that the government is using embassies and their databases to control the vote of Albanians abroad. “ The use of embassies is happening, and the DP parliamentary group has filed a report with SPAK about this. I hope this report moves forward ,” she said.

She raised concerns about ministers who, according to her, are using the identity cards of immigrants to fill out the CEC portal, calling this action a serious violation of the electoral process and voters' rights.

Tabaku recalled that, although a law on the protection of personal data has been passed, the practices of manipulating this data continue. " In 2021, it was exposed how the use of personal data in elections works. This is minimal compared to what is happening today ," she said during an interview on the "Kjo Javë" show on News24, questioning the transparency and fairness of the process.

The Democratic Party has requested intervention from relevant institutions to guarantee a fair and inviolable electoral process, especially for the diaspora vote. Through reporting to SPAK and public denunciations, the opposition aims to oppose any attempt at electoral manipulation by the government.
