Former President Ilir Meta commented on his relationship with Prime Minister Edi Rama and was asked if he would meet him if they were to face each other.
In an interview from his detention cell, Meta stated that he does not avoid anyone and that he will always be "open-minded" in front of Albanian citizens.
"I face anyone and I neither change my path nor lower my eyes. I will always be open-minded in front of Albanians because I have defended the national interest and democracy for me is a national interest. Time will tell who has an account to wash with this people," he told "A2 CNN".
While speaking about Prime Minister Rama, the leader of the Freedom Party said that they have different characters.
"We are different characters, he is the character of the scorpion, I am the character of the eagle," Meta said.
The former President also spoke about the period of political cooperation with Rama, stating that according to him, the change in the prime minister's behavior came after he "corrupted" the former leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha.
"I know Mr. Rama, and I don't want to blame him, Rama has been a very wise lamb, when he was a minister, when he was a subordinate, even when he was prime minister in the coalition, he came to Parliament every day at 10:00. Until he corrupted Luli and took all the powers and showed his true face, which is in his DNA. We cannot blame Rama for buying those who were sold", he said.
