Prime Minister Edi Rama publicly declared today that the Socialist Party is at a "crossroads" and a test of its ability as the country's leading force.

According to Rama, after the recent electoral victory and the opening of negotiation chapters with the European Union, Albania has entered a new phase, where political and economic developments decide the country's further progress. According to him, judicial reform, political stability and the economic course constitute key elements of this phase.

The head of government called for discipline within the parliamentary group, warning that any stagnation or wavering could negatively affect Albania's economic strength and international position. He stressed that the country is not facing a change in strategic relations, but circumstances that could harm progress if not managed responsibly.

"Today we are at this special end-of-month meeting, where this time it will be the government that will report to the group and since the specific topics related to each sector will be addressed by the respective ministers, I would like to share with you, taking advantage of the presence of the public and our voters through the media, the opinion I have created regarding the complex situation we find ourselves in, not just us, but our country today.

After a historic victory, after the opening of all chapters of negotiations with the EU, as well as after developments related to both the progress and fate of the historic justice reform, as well as political stability and statehood.

I believe that we must see together that we are at a new crossroads. While the economy continues to move at the predicted pace, while Albania continues to shine internationally, while projects are being developed, drafted to be developed during this mandate, the crossroads where we are today presents several risks that require a correct understanding, determined addressing and discipline on our part. Because otherwise Albania risks becoming a country of numbers, to climb to where the legacy has been demanding for decades and generations definitely deserve. Every country of numbers for Albania today is an economic decline," said Rama.

Rama also spoke in code about the difficult situation his party and government find themselves in after the accusations from SPAK, while not leaving unpunished attacks on the media and the leader of the DP, Sali Berisha.

"I am confident that we will pass this test, despite the homemade bombs... And here I am not only talking about the bombs thrown on the streets of Tirana by desperate people, but also about those from media pots," Rama added.
