During his official visit to Israel, Prime Minister Edi Rama delivered a speech at the special session of the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, where, among other things, he boasted of Albanian support for the so-called "Peace Board" and the plan proposed by former US President Donald Trump for Gaza.

The statement comes at a delicate moment, when the Israeli government itself has not officially accepted Trump's plan as the basis for resolving the conflict with the Palestinians.

" I come here after the Parliament approved the decision to become part of the Peace Board and make Albania a founding member of the peace board that will contribute to this new window of opportunity for peace for the people of Gaza and the region ," Rama said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made it clear that Tel Aviv's priorities are the disarmament of Hamas and the demilitarization of Gaza, not outdated diplomatic plans that are not implemented on the ground.

Rama, in his emotionally charged speech, said: “ I am certain that the Albania that I proudly represent and the people of my nation... should enjoy respect from the state of Israel .” He considered the Knesset speech a “personal test,” placing more emphasis on himself and the “warm welcome” he received than on any concrete political message.

Rama announced that a museum will be opened in the country for the works that the Albanian people have done to save Jews from torture.

To return to the speech and my choice to introduce myself with the words of an Arab leader, I have learned that I am not a Muslim, I am Catholic but my better half is Muslim. Our ancestors are Christian-Orthodox. It would not be a surprise if my son were to choose the Jewish faith, but it would also be very positive for him to be Muslim or Christian.  This is a normal Albanian history. We have several religions, which we celebrate and respect each other. My people with these beliefs welcomed Pope Francis. The Holy Father Francis did not call the reality in Albania religious coexistence, but a brotherhood. With the same pride, we will open the museum for the deeds of the Albanian people to save the Jews. Our young people and visitors to our country, whoever comes from your young people, who have grown up with high steps and percentages, will see this spirit and what has been done for the Jews. Albania is the only country that came out of World War II with the most "There are more Jews sheltered in the territory than when the war began ," Rama said.
