Prime Minister Edi Rama is conducting a visit to Jerusalem, Israel, which began on January 25 and will end on Tuesday, January 27. Rama was received by his counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu, with whom he is also holding a press statement.
Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that the opening of the Jerusalem Chamber of Commerce will be inaugurated tomorrow. Rama invites the Jewish people to visit Albania.
"In this spirit of growing cooperation, we will celebrate tomorrow, as you mentioned, the opening of the Jerusalem Chamber of Commerce, which aims to strengthen business ties. I want to conclude on a positive note in this relationship, tourism and exchange between people, which are growing as they should, supported by direct flights between Israel and Albania. I invite the Jewish people to visit Albania, to discover an extraordinary land, not only in nature, but also in spirit, which as a Jewish observer described before LIIB is a place where Jews could live openly, safely and with full dignity," said Rama.
In his statement with Netanyahu, Rama said that he stood by the Israeli hostages. Among other things, he said that Albania is honored to be part of the Peace Board.
"The visit to Novi Sad yesterday was stirring, I had a sense of moral relief towards the souls of that painful country knowing that we never left in the mud, we stood by the hostages, who have brought pain not only to the Israelis, but also to our Palestinian sisters and brothers. Something unprecedented and unheard of in the history of barbarities. Albania is honored to be part of the peace board and I see this invitation not only as a recognition but also a moral responsibility, we will support the efforts, including the peace plan, of Trump and we will play our role within the international force for the stabilization of Gaza" , said Rama.
Rama emphasized that Albanians joined the suffering of the Palestinian people, but did not express hatred towards Israel.
"I want to emphasize that Albania and Israel share excellent relations, which are rooted in the deep friendship of the Albanian and Jewish people, where more than once, Jews came and settled on our shores. Albania's historical legacy in protecting Jews during the Holocaust makes this connection deeply special, a testimony that we must never forget, we must inherit from generation to generation. The government is committed to celebrating this legacy. Although the Albanian population, with a Muslim majority, joined the suffering of the Palestinian people, Albanians did not gather in hate rallies against Israel. This is a marked contrast to what has happened in other European countries. Our country stands against anti-Semitism," the prime minister emphasized.
