Rama speaks again about Veliaj's arrest: What happened yesterday has
Rama at the event for the 105th anniversary of Tirana as the capital

Rama said that Veliaj was removed from office, terminating the contract he had with the citizens of Tirana.

Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke again this evening about the arrest of Mayor Erion Veliaj. He participated today in the activity organized by the municipality for the 105th anniversary of the declaration of Tirana as the Capital.

Rama said that SPAK crossed every limit yesterday. According to him, he was arrested 3 months before the elections, while there was no emergency of any kind. According to him, SPAK has been investigating anonymous letters for a year and raised the question of why it acted now.

" What happened yesterday has crossed every limit, not in relation to absolute justice and justice has always been relied upon to investigate and bring anyone to justice, without looking left or right. But in relation to the necessary separation of powers and the necessity of giving an elected authority the opportunity to exercise it throughout the time it is being investigated and judged ," he said.

He said that Veliaj was removed from office, terminating his contract with the citizens of Tirana. Rama said that Veliaj was thrown into prison without trial.

" The mayor, elected by a quarter of a million voters, to run the capital and to fulfill his contract with the citizens of Tirana, this contract was terminated by someone we do not know. The mayor was taken to prison without trial ," Rama said.

He further mentioned the fact that Veliaj was arrested before the elections, saying that something like this is not normal.

" I find it impossible not to connect the fact that a situation is being incited. A public lynching takes place and then the head of the capital is removed from his shoulders three months before the elections, I am not initiating anything, but I am saying that for me this is not normal. There is no flagrante delicto. There is no social danger. There is an investigation into the life of the mayor. How much such a thing is on the rails of the Constitution of the Republic is not up to me, but the suspicion is that it is off the rails. Today, only an idiot, a brazen person can say that we administer justice ," Rama continued.

Prime Minister Edi Rama has also criticized prosecutor Olsi Dado, who signed the arrest warrant for Erion Veliaj. According to him, the figure that emerged that Veliaj's wife had purchased dresses and jewelry worth over 800 thousand euros was made public intentionally. He also said that the prosecutor exceeded the limits with witnesses.

" We have the right to demand evidence and we have the right to say that throwing this figure in the parliament is intentional, to exalt the measure that the old man is seeking. And on the other hand to create a situation where it is impossible to discuss. However, we will follow this process very carefully. I told you that I have become an attentive follower because I have unwittingly found myself in conditions where I had to listen to some people of art. These are not the ones on these lists at all. They are people of art who have had a hand in the investigations or interviews with this prosecutor who I would really like to convince anyone with evidence. Maybe there is. But whether there is or not, the method is unacceptable ," said Rama.

Rama also sent a message about justice, stating that he will not allow a Republic of Prosecutors.

" These are not good signs at all. I want to hope that they are not signs related to the symptoms of a self-confidence disease. I want to believe in what I have said. And I stand by the fact that this is not a Republic of Prosecutors that is in its final materialization because it would be the biggest own goal that with good will and with our eyes closed we would make by transforming justice ," he said./ Pamphlet
