Meanwhile, as Deputy Mayor of Tirana Municipality, Ristani was in charge of International Affairs and Sustainable Development.
Anuela Ristani assumed the powers of Mayor of Tirana during a meeting, where Prime Minister Edi Rama was also present.
In this way, Ristani was appointed to the position of Mayor, one day after Erion Veliaj was arrested by order of SPAK.
Ristani has been part of the Municipality of Tirana since 2015, when Erion Veliaj won his first term as Mayor. She has been the head of the Mayor's Cabinet.
Meanwhile, as Deputy Mayor of Tirana, Ristani was in charge of International Affairs and Sustainable Development. During her work for the city, she oversaw the Green City Action Plan, the Child Friendly Tirana agenda, and the Resilience and Sustainability strategies.
Before joining local government, she founded the National Youth Service, where she also co-founded RYCO - the Regional Youth Cooperation Office with the participation of six Western Balkan countries.
