Rama tries to calm relations with Athens, removes Jorgo Gora from the
Rama and Jorgo Goro

The Prime Minister wanted to tell Mitsotakis that justice has spoken about Beler and he has nothing more to do. The only thing left for him is to get rid of Jorgo Goro...

After the pressures and ultimatums of Athens, Prime Minister Edi Rama has decided to remove Jorgo Goro from the position of acting mayor of Himara. Although he lost on May 14, he continues to hold office because Fredi Beleri, who won the elections, is in prison.

Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted today on social networks, where while commenting on the decision of GJKKO, which refused to give Beler permission to take the oath, he announced that it no longer makes sense for the losing candidate to remain in that position.

But Rama seems to have taken care to send a message to Official Athens. He also posted the post on the "X" network in English, as he accompanied it with the decision of the Special Court for Beleri.

The Prime Minister wanted to tell Mitsotakis that justice has spoken about Beler and he has nothing more to do. The only thing left is to remove Jorgo Goro and maybe a vice-president will be appointed from the ranks of PBDNJ, the party from which the candidate and Beleri emerged. So it seems that the prime minister has taken a step to normalize relations with Greece, which has blocked the opening of the integration chapters.

" The reference by GJKKO of the impasse that is created in the temporary continuation of the office by the losing candidate, as long as the elected mayor remains in custody, while the mayor still in office does not have the legitimacy to run the municipality in the absence of the winner, makes clearly legible and easily understandable the need to get out of this impasse through the interruption of the continuity of the losing candidate's tenure, based on the best European practices for providing public services in the municipality of Himara" , says Rama.

Rama's reaction

From reading the reasoned decision of GJKKO on not granting permission for the oath of the elected mayor of Himara, I see fit to publicly underline the following:

1. The General Directorate of Prisons' failure to grant permission to swear in the conditions of detention ultimately results in a correct legal position, just as the special court's rejection of the request is clearly legible and easily understandable.

2. The fact that the elected mayor of Himara remains so until the end of the trial and only the announcement with a final decision will determine his possibility to swear in case of innocence or his inability to remain mayor in case guilt, is also clearly legible and easily understood.

3. Referral by GJKKO of the impasse that is created in the temporary succession of office by the losing candidate, as long as the elected mayor remains in custody, while the mayor still in office does not have the legitimacy to run the municipality in the absence of the winner , makes clearly readable and easily understandable the need to get out of this impasse through the termination of the losing candidate's tenure, based on the best European practices for providing public services in the municipality of Himara.

In conclusion, this reasoned decision of GJKKO is an indisputable legal confirmation of the "Beleri case" as a matter of justice, the assessment of politics or indeed of central government bodies. Also, the reasoning of this decision creates a positive premise for addressing the aforementioned impasse.
