Deputies with 2 mandates will end up on the open list...
Prime Minister Edi Rama seems to be having trouble figuring out the May 11 elections. In addition to moving political leaders around on a daily basis, Rama seems to have changed his mind about including them on the lists.
At the September 2024 Assembly, the socialist leader made a strong statement. He said that political leaders (except Balla and Klos) and MPs with more than 1 mandate will be on the open lists. He also said that he himself will be with them.
" It is appropriate to share with you that today, MPs with more than 1 mandate, without excluding the political leaders of the regions, who fall into this category and myself, will be in the open competition like everyone else. While in the closed list, there may be only a few of them who will have specific coordinating duties such as the general secretary, or the new political leader of the Diaspora, in the conditions when it will be the first time that Albanians outside the homeland will participate in elections. The main part of the closed list will be MPs with only one mandate and young men and women who will win a place on that list ", Rama expressed.
But it seems that Rama has changed his mind. Today he had a meeting with political leaders and it was discussed that they should be on the safe list, that is, on the closed list. Those who will end up on the open list are the deputies with 2 or more mandates. According to a quick calculation, there are about 30 deputies who have this status and a very large part will find themselves outside the Parliament, since on the open lists the competition will be for very few seats.
It should be noted that for several days Rama has been moving political leaders. He removed Majko from Kukës and placed him in Tirana, while yesterday he sent him to Kavajë. He sent Eduard Shalsi to Kukës. Meanwhile, Blendi Gonxhe was brought in to Tirana. He has also engaged all the ministers, while recently he entrusted unit no. 1 to the Minister of Interior, Ervin Hoxha. Rama did not only add reinforcements to Tirana, but also to Belinda Balluku in Fier, he sent the Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, who has started his engagement in Lushnje.
