Kreshnik Spahiu spoke on '5 Questions with Babaramon', Report TV, regarding the elections of May 11, 2025. Spahiu focused on the diaspora vote and the registration of 10,000 Albanian immigrant voters so far.
He considers it good news that 10,000 immigrants have been registered in a short time, evaluating this as an important step towards the inclusion of the diaspora in Albania's democratic processes.
Spahiu raises concerns about some problematic aspects of voting by mail. He highlights the risk of manipulation, citing the possibility of collective family voting or influence by powerful entrepreneurs. The diaspora vote, according to him, often does not guarantee secrecy and can be done clan-wise, thus influencing the election results.
Spahiu brings as an example the experience of Kosovo, where despite the registration of 130 thousand voters, only 60 thousand votes were declared valid. He predicts a similar situation in Albania, where the percentage of valid votes may be low compared to the number of registered voters.

Good news that within 48 days there are 10 thousand registered. Registration of immigrants living or working outside Albania is a denied right. Whoever I vote for, the diaspora is a second problem. Those who will not be voted by the diaspora will call it bad news. Whoever they vote for, I will consider it as a novelty for Albania. Unlike the Albanians, the vote of the diaspora will be flexible.
If the votes in Albania do not change for 30-40 years. Albanians in the west have a different approach to the changes in Albania. If rotation ever happens, it will happen from the influx of immigrant votes. I want to give some information in Kosovo, 130,000 were registered, but 60,000 valid votes. We can have 200 thousand registered and finally vote, 50% valid votes. Will it happen the same? It could happen. Cheating the result something else. Voting by mail is a precedent, in the diaspora it is manipulated 20 times. Voting is manipulated in the diaspora. There is no secret ballot. It will be voted in society. It will be voted clan-wise. The elections in Kosovo, which are fair and equal, there were manipulations of the diaspora's vote , said Spahiu.
