Rama reacts after the interview for "La Republica": I have not changed
Edi Rama

He said that regarding the agreement for immigrants with Italy, he has not changed his mind and even if he could turn back time, he would sign it again.

Prime Minister Rama has rejected the news published in the Italian media about the postponement of the opening of immigrant centers in Albania, where the Italian counterpart was responsible. In a reaction on social networks, the head of the Albanian government denies having given an interview to the journalist of "La Repubblica", and says that he only talked in an atmosphere of friendship.

According to him, the title of the Italian newspaper "Rama rejects Meloni" does not coincide with the words he said to the Italian journalist.

" No, I did not change my mind and did not give an interview. I acted as an Albanian practicing our ancient religion of hospitality, the home of the Albanian and God and the host, offering coffee to friends who came from Italy to Tirana. We talked about many things in a beautiful atmosphere of friendship and of course also about the agreement and the history of illegal immigration from Albania to Italy, which the D'Alema government managed to put an end to with a lot of common sense and strategic foresight. But I never imagined that I would once again end up in the quagmire of the Italian political battle in quotes with words I never said, like "it will be a failure" or "we would like D'Alema" under the title "Rama rejects Meloni" in which I don't recognize myself at all ", says Rama.

He reiterates once again his position in favor of the immigrant agreement with Italy.

" However, I repeat: If I had to retrace my steps a hundred times, I would make the migrant deal with Italy and no other country. I have always said that in my opinion it is a new thing that will have to face the test of reality. But if in reality he publishes a photo of a construction site in the early hours of work, accompanied by the caption "800 million thrown into the air", then we live in parallel worlds and nothing could bring us closer to the real giant challenge of immigration i illegally, in a Europe that must unite to fight both the criminal traffic of the poor and the demographic winter that increasingly threatens its future, while politicians look like the priests of Constantinople who became so absorbed in the debate among them about the sex of angels and they did not understand that the walls of the city were already pierced from all sides ", said the Prime Minister.
