Prime Minister Edi Rama has broken the silence regarding SPAK's request for the arrest of Arben Ahmetaj.
The former minister is accused of corruption, money laundering and concealment of wealth, while today the Parliament removed his immunity, paving the way for the arrest and control of the apartment.
From Monday until today, Rama has not spoken, as he remained silent in the Parliament hall. But he addressed the citizens with a message on social networks this afternoon.
As expected, Rama sold SPAK's request as a success of justice reform.
"Today we voted on a SPAK request, it was another test for us. As the initiators of the Justice Reform, anyone who has listened to me since the beginning of the time knows that I have persistently sought this thing. I have thought very carefully about what I say and I have thought very carefully about what I have said. I also had in mind the wretched culture of savage justice for the common man and kneeling before someone in power, a culture that Albania has had since its creation. Since we made this reform, it had never happened. When a man with power was convicted as former Prime Minister Fatos Nano, it was the last case of the Albanian tradition of imprisoning a political opponent. Dictatorship was the epitome of justice according to the appetite of the former. I didn't talk about being okay with the communication manual like my predecessors,", Rama said.
He continued with the same old rhetoric, saying that those who worked behind the backs will not be protected by the SP. Rama made it clear again that the responsibility is individual and he does not take any blame.
" Albanians have entrusted me with this mission, and in front of them, I cannot agree with anyone who abuses this trust by breaking the mandate of our voters and my trust with an opportunity to expand their pockets through power. I am ready to bear without complaint, the mud without complaint that my opponents have been throwing in my face and chest for years. But I have not been, I am not and I will never be ready to carry on the back of the Socialist Party anyone who remembers the great back of our political family, the back of a horse", said Rama .
The head of the government warned of other "beheadings". Rama warned everyone that whoever works behind the scenes will have to face SPAK alone. He said that whoever confuses the common road and works for his pocket, he should bear the responsibility himself.
" The sometimes hurtful feeling of disappointment and surprise is strong and the difficulty of digesting it is great. We all make our choices and my choice cannot be changed in any way and under any circumstances, so I repeat today what I have said many times since the first day I entered this building. Whoever confuses the common road with a road where he does two jobs, both for the state and for his pocket, take a responsibility that he does not share with me or with us, but that he must share when he goes in front of the mirror, with God or when he goes out even before justice. I tell you bluntly, and I say it again publicly, I do not choose any collaborator not to let him go when he leaves himself off the common path, but I choose the collaborator not to let go of the path and the people who have chosen all of us on this path, " said he.
Rama u ndal dhe te vetë dosja e SPAK. Ai e përmendi me emër Ahmetajn, teksa bëri dhe një paralele me rastin e Saimir Tahirit. Në atë kohë Kuvendi refuzoi arrestimin e tij. Ndërkohë Rama shprehet se SPAK solli një dosje voluminoze.
“Arben Ahmetaj nuk është një bashkëpunëtor i largët me mua, është një nga bashkëpunëtorët me të cilët jam takuar më shumë. Nuk më takon mua të them nëse është fajtor apo i pafajshëm, por ndryshe nga një rast i disa viteve më parë kur kërkesa e prokurorisë duhej kufizuar dhe e bazuar mbi gazeta, kjo e sotmja duhet të autorizuar pa asnjë dyshim. Na u vu para dosja e një punë voluminoze hetimore. Gjykata do ta thotë. Ajo dosje krijon dyshime se dyshime të mjaftueshme që mos ta ndalojmë SPAK për kontroll. Është në dorë të drejtësisë, nëse është një rast fajësie apo pafajësie”, tha Rama.
