Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted to the protest called by the opposition this afternoon.
In his reaction, Rama says that today's protest is "inspired by the slander of a fugitive from justice, for corruption and concealment of wealth. Meaning the statements made recently by the former number two of his government, now on the run, Arben Ahmetaj.
According to Rama, only by abandoning Berisha's DP, which he refers to as "the swamp of the old owl," will the Democrats create space for the rebirth of a worthy political opposition.
"Today, the old owl of the opposition swamp has come out with his swamp in protest, and the inspiration for the protest is the scoundrels of a fugitive wanted by justice for corruption and hiding wealth. This protest should be welcomed, because it is a clear reflection of the rotten alternative of a political swamp of degraded losers, which on May 11, Albanians must lead to drying up, by voting for the only worthy political force in Albania, the Socialist Party of Albania. Only by abandoning the old owl's swamp will the democrats create space for the rebirth of a worthy political opposition for Albania, a member of the European Union, otherwise the losses will only deepen beyond May 11, when today's protesters will not only lose for the tenth time in a row, but also by the deepest difference with the Socialist Party, since 2013," Rama writes on the "X" network.
