Prime Minister Rama has commented on Donald Trump's decision to suspend the United States Refugee Admission Program (USRAP) until further admission of refugees to the United States is in line with the interests of the nation. He said that regarding Afghan refugees who are in Albania, they will not have any problems.
"If they want to stay in the country, they can do that, they can't go back to their vendor and stop the violence. These are not big numbers for us, they are just a few people," the prime minister told the prestigious Spanish newspaper, "El Mundo."
Asked if he has confidence in the future of the pact with his Italian counterpart, Georgia Meloni, on immigration after the judiciary paralyzed the agreement, Rama “washed” his hands, saying that “it is not up to him to speak about this.” He stated that he simply responds when neighbors ask for help.
"You should ask the Italians, it's not up to me what to make happen. We have no part of it and it's Italy that implements it. We simply respond when our neighbors ask us for help. Europe must implement a common migration policy, which avoids politics, and protects the border, but also opens up to legal immigration," Rama said.
