Former Democratic MP Flurura Açka has reacted to recent developments in the Democratic Party, where two days ago, through a referendum, Sali Berisha was reconfirmed as the leader of this party.
Açka says that Berisha thinks that the DP is his property, so Albania needs a third political pole, which should refresh democracy in the country.
In an interview with Radar.al, Açka states that the DP has turned into a communist-minded gang, emphasizing that she was expelled from the party after criticism and demands for Sali Berisha's removal.
"The time has come to create a third pole, since Sali Berisha has decided to stay in the DP. Let him keep the DP, enjoy it, because he thinks he has his own property, but we need a third pole. Because we need to refresh Albanian democracy, we have no other way. That's all I said, what did I say? I said these things: Mr. Berisha, you need to leave because... And it had nothing to do with the non-grata, it had nothing to do with his personal affairs.
Even these words that I have heard that his non grata will be removed. Even if, very good, because if Mr. Berisha's non grata is removed, in a way, the DP is also cleaner. Of course, it would be a very big event, for the Democrats I am talking about, not for Mr. Berisha. It would be good for the rest of us, it would be good for me personally, because I have voted for that man, that political figure, for 30 years. I also have my responsibilities. What did I vote for, I voted for this man? Even if his non grata is removed, Albanians will not vote for him, they do not want Mr. Berisha as Prime Minister. They do not want him either today or in 2029", said Açka.
