Electoral Reform, Bushka: We are open to discussions with parties outside the

The deputy of the Socialist Party, Klotilda Bushka, said that the majority is open to political subjects outside the parliament being part of the Electoral Reform discussions.

"We were among those who did the reform even with parties that were outside the parliament. Those who are in the parliament today and were made in two or three camps. There were no seeds in the 2021 elections when we made changes to the Electoral Code. We made them part of the Electoral Reform for the sake of what is tradition and what democracy requires. You can't do reform just because you have the numbers.

But it is a process that belongs to the political entities, which are governing alternatives, which compete in those elections and which require certain rules of the game to be agreed upon by all. Even if you have the numbers, if there is no agreement of the political subjects, whether inside or outside the Assembly, it fails. It should not be discussed with the largest or smallest group.

The decision on the electoral reform commission, as well as the chairmanship of the commissions, is not left to the deputies but to the political parties. And the political parties choose the co-chairs of the commission. This is a political process that has produced several legal documents. This means that the members of that commission can be all the MPs who are determined by the parliamentary groups, while we are also open to other parties that may not be in the parliament at all to be part of the discussions and opinion acquisition", said Bushka .
