The Minister of Economy, Delina Ibrahimaj, stated after the government meeting that it is currently not necessary to establish a Transparency Board for hydrocarbon prices in the country.
She stated that, despite the recent changes in fuel prices as a result of developments in the Middle East, the situation is being continuously monitored by institutions. According to her, if unjustified price increases are found, then the reinstatement of the Transparency Board will be considered.
Ibrahimaj announced that the government has also held a meeting with representatives of major fuel traders and the Hydrocarbons Association to discuss the rapid increase in prices over the last week.
"We discussed the economic situation in the country, fuel prices, we held a meeting with key traders and the hydrocarbons association to raise the alert for the rapid increase in prices over the last week."
We have discussed the obligation they have to maintain reserves so that we do not enter an emergency situation. We are monitoring the stock exchange prices for hydrocarbons entering the country on a daily basis.
"The situation is not yet at the level of raising the transparency board, but if there is a price increase, we will have to enter that regime," she said.
