Fires in Albania

Prime Minister Edi Rama has made another reaction regarding the fire situation in the country.

In his post, Rama emphasizes that the outbreaks in Delvinë, Poliçan, Gramsh, Dropull, Finiq, Berat, Tepelena and Bulqiza require continued attention, where ground forces and air vehicles are working non-stop to protect the lives of citizens and property.

According to him, today is a day of sacrifice and pride where state structures continue their efforts on the ground to extinguish the fires throughout the country.

We recall that yesterday, 37 active fire outbreaks were registered throughout the territory of Albania in several regions, including: Vlorë, Dibër, Berat, Tirana, Gjirokastër, Elbasan, Shkodër, Kukës, Korçë and Lezhë.

Forces from the Fire Protection and Rescue Service (FPS), the Armed Forces, the state police, and regional emergency forces are engaged in the field.

Firefighting operations are also being supported by Czech and Slovak helicopters, which have been made available to cope with the most difficult situations and to intervene in deep areas inaccessible by land vehicles.

Rama also expressed "disgust for the complacency that continues its blatant whining in front of the media, while thousands of fires are burning throughout Southern Europe from Spain to Turkey."

"GOOD MORNING and with another day of high readiness and joint efforts, faced with an improved situation thanks to admirable efforts and sacrifices but with unexpected dangers at every moment; with disgust for the complacency that continues its blatant whining in front of the media, while thousands of fires are burning across Southern Europe from Spain to Turkey, I wish you all a peaceful day," the head of government's post reads.

Meanwhile, while the government is in negotiations for the purchase of aircraft, as stated by Minister Pirro Vëngu, the Greek Embassy in Tirana announced that it is monitoring the alarming situation in Albania and, within its capacities, has contributed with firefighting aircraft to extinguish the fires. The assistance is being provided as part of the European Civil Protection Mechanism and bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
