Media in Belgrade have reacted to Prime Minister Edi Rama's draft proposal for the Association of Serbian municipalities in Kosovo, which he said he sent to French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Danas emphasizes that Rama stated in the press conference that he does not understand the reluctance of the Kosovo authorities to de-escalate the situation in the north.
"The situation in the north is taking on the proportions of a political tragedy for the Republic of Kosovo. The statements of our strategic allies about this situation are increasingly alarming and it is incomprehensible the reason for the reluctance of the Kosovar authorities to de-escalate a situation in which it is clear that Kosovo is making huge losses every day", said Rama.
He emphasized that the Association will be a "Gordian knot" until the end of the dialogue with the two countries.
"Serbia is doing what it has done many times before, while Kosovo is doing something it has never done before and for which it is universally blamed by all the strategic allies of the Albanian people. In the conditions where the relations of the allies with Kosovo are taking more and more final tones, if Kosovo, and I hope this will not happen, is sanctioned because of its attitude, I am here to share with you an unknown fact until today ", Rama said.
He emphasized that he believes that the creation of the Association is the key to finally open the door for the international affirmation of Kosovo.
"Her recognition by everyone, her placement in international forums and mutual recognition with Serbia. It's a plan worked out long ago by top American and European experts, just in case this day comes. For me, the position of Kosovo, not Serbia, is unforgettable. The parties cannot agree on who should write this text nor what the text should contain", added Rama.
As he pointed out, the draft he sent to Macron and Scholtz may not be an ideal solution, but it respects all the reasons for creating the Association.
"It is a confidential document that does not pretend to be an ideal solution, but it is a document of the highest international level that respects all the reasons for the creation of the Association", said Rama.
