Erion Braçe has long launched a campaign to gain the approval of left-wing supporters, with the aim of running for mayor in the 2027 elections. But so far there has been no support from Edi Rama.
In fact, as it is learned, the plan of the majority leader is completely opposite to Brace and his political ambition.
It is very likely that the continuation of this pre-campaign will also have the same silence from Edi Rama, who is consciously allowing the situation in Tirana to deteriorate, in order to increase popular dissatisfaction with the incumbent president, who is in prison.
A well-thought-out political sadism, since, as it turns out, there is a rather perfidious plan for the 2027 elections. A plan that the entire Socialist Party, but also the diplomatic circles of Tirana, are boiling over.
Rumor has it that "the tall one" has put the position of mayor of Tirana up for auction, knowing that Sali Berisha has no intention of taking over the mayorship, even though the rumored candidate, Ilir Alimehmeti, is not bad.
The plan aims to spread the idea that Edi Rama has left Tirana to the opposition in 2027, but requires that the candidate who emerges have his consent.
So, from the beginning, the "OK" must be obtained from Sali Berisha, who, through secret negotiations, must bring out a person that Rama likes.
The game doesn't seem to be aimed at pleasing Sali Berisha, although, in the end, it does him a lot. It all seems part of a plan to create the impression among the international community that Rama is relinquishing power.
When in reality he is trying to guide the election of a mayor with limited powers.
Edi Rama is afraid of both Erion Braçe and any new figure from the position, who could emerge as a political figure and become his alter ego.
He aims for a candidate who will crush Erion Veliaj and the legacy of his years, but not the political power of Edi Rama.
A new mayor from the opposition would have no real chance of stopping Rama's plan for the towers, for example, as he lacks the decisive powers. Even the municipality's building permits must receive the "OK" from the KKT, where Edi Rama himself is the chairman.
The goal is to find a mayor who can be accustomed to and enticed by the benefits of local government, to then negotiate and get him under their wing.
Rama's fear is that a figure will emerge from the 2027 elections to declare resistance to his policies and sow a large movement against him.
Such a movement takes time, but it can gain the sympathy of many factors, above all of citizens and especially youth.
On the other hand, such a figure would have strong support from the EU, namely Germany, which is working to find an anti-Rama to dismantle him politically.
