Analyst Roland Lami spoke about the work of SPAK. According to an ABC News poll, Albanians are divided on Altin Dumani's 3-year tenure as head of the Special Prosecution Office.
They state that 55.3% of Albanians think that the outgoing leader of SPAK targeted the government, while only 19.4% targeted the opposition.
Lami emphasized that SPAK should show impartiality in relation to corruption, as according to him it should not be localized to only one side.
"It is an institution that has also created the opportunity to be more exposed in the eyes of the public. It is difficult for a simple citizen to judge from the inside how the structure works. But they emphasize the good performance against the fight against organized crime. But again, a problem is evident due to the still powerlessness that SPAK has to advance more on the issue of organized crime. So it remains in a position of dependence or expectation of pressure coming from outside and has not yet become a leader. SPAK should show impartiality in relation to corruption. It should not be localized with only one wing. But again, we should not forget the fact that the government has been in power for a long time and the chances are more that it will be in focus. And secondly, there are indeed three leaders of the opposition who have been hit, but the files are dragging on endlessly. So these create a distortion in the public perception," said Lami.
