Ervin Salianji, member of the Presidency of the Democratic Party, continues his tour of lecterns, and on Tuesday afternoon he stops in Elbasan. This is the 3rd lectern or meeting that Salianji holds with members and structures of the Democratic Party, after the meetings in Durrës and Elbasan.
Salianji's round of meetings with what he considers to be the Democrats' base has sparked clashes within the Democratic Party. At the last Presidency meeting, Salianji had strong retorts with the Democratic leader, Sali Berisha, and the Secretary General, Flamur Noka.
Both Berisha and Noka treat Salianja's round of meetings as a 'personal agenda' that serves Edi Rama.
On the other hand, the former Democratic MP states that through such meetings he aims to revitalize the DP structures, while emphasizing that his mission is to overthrow Edi Rama. In the first two meetings, the one in Durrës and then in Gjirokastra, the former Democratic MP has managed to gather a significant part of the DP structures and members, which seems to have strained the leadership of this party.
The accusations against Salijanj in the leadership of the DP brought back to attention the clashes of 4 years ago, a time when Berisha was declared 'non grata' and expelled from the party structures, while the former MP stood by Lulzim Basha, at that time the leader of the Democratic Party.
