Lawyer Spartak Ngjela has analyzed the re-election of Lulzim Basha at the head of the DP, who on July 29, 2023 returned with a new course, leaving behind the past and Berisha's group.
According to the lawyer, Basha must now unite the DP, call around him the intellectuals who were once part of this party but left for fun or did not accept the current optics of the Albanian right.
Njjela said that the union is necessary if the DP will return to power.
"There is a primary need to walk to take power. With 16,000 votes, power is not taken. Basha must necessarily unite the great intellectual values that PD has in the west and in Albania, which have been sidelined from the political struggle for individual careers and continue the case in order to take power. But can the union succeed when a part of the democrats are with Berisha?", says the lawyer.
Njela believes that if he will have the support of Washington, only then will Basha become prime minister.
"It is this equation. U = B (Washington is equal to Basha). If Basha will have the great support of Washington, everything will be done. From what I can see, Basha has the support of Washington. We will see how the events will precipitate in September , but if it has the political support of Washington, everything is done. Why do you think that Saliu defeated the Communist Party in 1992? Washington defeated it. If it supports it with its vigorous political intention and the American support it has in Albania, the DP will immediately regroup and it's in everyone's favor," says Njela.
As for Berisha, Ngjela says that he is holding the DP hostage, but if he was willing to help the return of the DP to power, everything would be in his favor.
"We are in politics. There is no 'never' (never) in politics. If he will know how to make compromises and help the DP return to power without his presence, because with his presence he cannot win that he is nongrata in America. Then the right arises for the prime minister and the right-wing majority that will come to power through the DP to help him in Washington. Very simple. This is politics. There is nothing else! But is Saliu playing this? "No, Saliu has ridden the horse and is holding it by the tail! It's good that he is holding it by the tail and he is not walking, but he is not letting go so that someone else can take him and lead him. Here we are," concludes the lawyer.
