Member of Parliament, Jorida Tabaku, has participated in the Stabilization-Association Commission meeting in Brussels where she will discuss on behalf of DP. Tabaku is the President of the National Integration Council and the Commission for EU Affairs.
The MP said that 2024 should be Albania's year for the EU. She emphasized that today Albania must be ready to fight corruption and support a democracy in the service of reforms.
" The fight against corruption at high levels is vital for integration. Parliament must approve the commissions of inquiry that the opposition demands and change the law on commissions of inquiry with the agreement of the opposition! The fight against corruption starts with a parliament serving the citizens. Parliament fights corruption through investigative commissions and interpellations ," said Tabaku.
Regarding the electoral reform, Tabaku observed that the electoral reform is important and that the vote of the diaspora has the will of the opposition, but not of the majority. Likewise, the deputy compared the majority's efforts to control justice institutions with the law of investigative commissions to hinder the opposition.
" The independence of the judiciary is not just a legal concept but the foundation of democracy and the rule of law. The Albanian economy is being damaged by dirty money. It is time for the government to engage in a battle to save the economy. Albania should focus on the growth plan without losing opportunities for economic reforms. The Albanian economy suffers from the lack of reforms that would bring it closer to the EU and expand the market ", said Tabaku.
