The deputy of the Democratic Party, Saimir Korreshi, during his speech in the Parliament, condemned the statement of the head of Oncology, Silvana Çeliku, who, during the report to the Health Commission, said that "getting sick with cancer does not mean that you are incapable of work".
Korreshi described Çelik's statement as scandalous, which comes at a time when the health sector is collapsing and no Albanian is helping.
The MP further added that saying that cancer patients are able to work is the biggest shame.
" It is the biggest shame. Do you know what happens to them after they are cured and do the treatment, they are nervous for three days, they don't talk to their family members, how does this person get to work. How can you tell this one who is living with the dilemma of death, that you are able to work? Yesterday's is a scandalous video of a head of an institution at a time when the health sector is collapsing and no Albanian is helping. Vulnerable groups are especially those who cannot touch the health sector because they cannot even take the bus to come to Tirana.
Cancer patients then, to say that they are able to work, is the biggest shame. How can you tell this one who is living with the dilemma of death, that you are able to work? How can a state institution express itself in such a way ", said Korreshi.
