The Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, left today for an official visit to London, at the invitation of the Secretary of State for Justice in the United Kingdom, Alex Chalk.
It is learned that at the center of this meeting will be the signing of the bilateral agreement for the transfer of Albanian convicts from the United Kingdom to Albania. According to the agreement, about 200 people will return to Albania and the costs will be paid by Britain.
In addition to the meeting with his British counterpart, Minister Manja will also hold other high-level political meetings, such as the meetings in the Parliament and the Supreme Court, with which he will discuss various issues of the justice system.
He would also hold a meeting with representatives of the Albanian community in the field of justice and business.
Of special importance for Minister Manja will be the visit to the men's prison in Pentonville, where he will meet the Albanian citizens who are awaiting sentencing by the British courts. This is the first time that a minister of justice holds such a meeting and focuses on the conditions of treatment of our citizens, the problems they encounter, especially in terms of discrimination and prejudice or the opportunities they have had to communicate with their families.
