The clash between Behgjet Pacolli's "Mabco" company and the administrators of Vlora Airport has become even more tense. On the fourth day of the protest, Pacolli accused the State Police of intimidating his company's workers and specialists, while the concessionaire accuses "Mabco" of delays and financial damages of millions of euros.
For four days, workers and subcontractors of the company "Mabco", owned by businessman Behgjet Pacolli, have continued their protest in front of the Vlora Airport construction site, after the concession company, now managed by Valon Ademi, terminated the contract for works at the terminal.
In his latest reaction, Pacolli accuses the State Police of being put at the service of private interests and exerting pressure on the company's specialists and workers, sending another striking message to the prime minister.
" For four days in a row, the State Police, through verbal violence, insults, threats and unjustified obstacles, has been preventing the access of Albanian and international craftsmen, engineers and professionals to their workplaces. Among them are over 50 specialists from China, who are currently in the Mabco workers' dormitory, within the perimeter surrounded by wire, with limited freedom of movement, even for basic needs such as the supply of food and medicines ," Pacolli declares.
The Kosovar businessman says that the situation has created a climate of fear and psychological pressure for the company's employees, while accusing the authorities of abusing state power.
" These people do not even have the opportunity to take care of their personal and professional belongings and equipment, which are located in the Terminal building. Such treatment is not only unfair and unacceptable, but raises serious suspicions of abuse of state authority and the use of the State Police outside its legal mission. The police cannot and should not be used as an instrument of pressure against workers, specialists and professionals who are simply seeking to exercise their duties ," the reaction further states.
On the other hand, the company "Vlora International Airport" declares that the contract with "Mabco" has been terminated due to the failure to complete the works on the airport terminal on time, claiming that the delays have caused financial damage of over 4.6 million euros.
"Mabco" subcontractors, who have been protesting in front of the airport for days, are demanding their return to work and a resolution to the conflict between the parties, while the situation has also begun to take on political and institutional overtones due to strong accusations against the State Police.
