Prime Minister Edi Rama has shared details from his visits to Italy and Spain, where he held meetings with counterparts Giorgia Meloni and Pedro Sanchez, as well as with other senior officials from the two countries.
During a conversation on the podcast "Flasim", Rama focused on relations with Italy, emphasizing that they have been significantly strengthened during the government of Giorgia Meloni. He also highlighted the special reception reserved for the Albanian delegation in Spain, including by the Chamber of Commerce of Catalonia, which according to him reflects the increased appreciation for Albania.
"This week I had a fight with 2 stops, in Rome and Barcelona. The meeting with Meloni in Rome was a moment to take stock of the progress of our joint work. Italy has always been close to Albania. All Italian governments have been ready and attentive to support Albania. But with the current government of Italy, things have gone to another level. So the signing of the strategic agreement between the 2 governments at the previous Rome meeting is actually the most meaningful reflection of the fact that the relationship, always considered strategic, has taken on a new color through strategic cooperation projects, related to development, whether it be security. After Rome, I had a visit to Barcelona, where, at the invitation of Prime Minister Sanchez, I participated in the joint round table of the Summit, called in defense of democracy. And before this Summit, together with the delegation, we were received with special honor by the Chamber of Commerce of Catalonia.
"Once Albania in Spain was associated with prejudices, while today Albania is a major tourist destination for young Spanish people. Meanwhile, political relations between the two countries are at another level. These stops clearly highlight that as serious partners, thanks to progress and transformation, we find ourselves at a point where we have only one path, to move forward quickly," Rama said, among other things.
