Democratic Party MP Oerd Bylykbashi has reacted after the tragic event at the Court of Appeals, where Judge Astrit Kalaja was killed while on duty.
Bylykbashi said that this event is a strong alarm about the state of the justice system and the perception that citizens have towards it.
According to Bylykbashi, a dangerous resentment towards judges and magistrates has been created in society, which, regardless of the causes, is completely unacceptable.
The MP emphasized that this anger has transformed into serious forms of public reaction, in some cases reaching the point of self-justification, which, according to him, constitutes a danger to moral and social order.
"There is a terrible anger towards judges, towards magistrates that is unacceptable. We are not talking about criticism, but even in the form of curses they are completely unacceptable. Basically, they are contextualized in the word, it is self-judgment that comes to the fore and one of the most unacceptable things, not of the law, but of the morality of society," said Bylykbashi.
He added that this reaction comes as a result of the lack of justice over the years, as citizens have perceived injustice as a constant reality.
According to the MP, this grave situation has made people feel tired and disappointed, but this cannot serve as an excuse for serious acts such as the murder of a judge.
"Injustice is one thing, lack of justice is another. People have lost their minds, but this does not justify murder. Even if it were the wrong decision, murder is intolerable. The authorities must quickly do justice to the best of their ability ," he stressed.
Bylykbashi asked that this event serve as a point of reflection, not only for citizens, but also for the political class, which has contributed to the degradation of public perception of justice.
"It should be a turning point for many, even for politicians who speak, do not leave the studio without speaking and making statements, without posting. They should stop for a moment and think: how did we get here? With the justice reform, procedural laws were not reformed to make the courts function faster. People were changed, the leaders of the system were removed, and then the judges and prosecutors. It was a story of capture between individuals, not to make the matter simpler ," Bylykbashi told "Syri TV".
