The Socialist Party leadership will officially announce on Tuesday afternoon the 6 candidates for mayor in the local units where by-elections will be held on November 9.
The meeting of the Presidency of the Socialist Party will start at 18:00, while a formalization of the names that have previously passed through the 'sieve' and received approval from socialist leader Edi Rama is expected.
So, in addition to Tirana, where Ogerta Manastirliu is running for mayor, candidates will also be determined in 5 other municipalities: Vlorë, Berat, Cërrik, Tepelena and Mat.
In these 5 municipalities, the vacancies were created due to the resignation of the Mayors who took office in 2023. With the exception of Vlora, where Ermal Dredha resigned after clashes with Prime Minister Edi Rama, in the other 4 municipalities, the mayors resigned after running for MP in the May 11 elections.
In Mat, Altin Bojni is expected to be made official, while in Berat, Ervin Ceca's candidacy is expected to be made official. Ceca currently holds the position of deputy mayor of this municipality.
In Cerrik, the SP will have the candidate of the commander-in-chief Florenc Doka, while for Tepelena and Vlora, a decision is expected this afternoon.
