
President Bajram Begaj received today the Letters of Credentials of the UN Resident Coordinator in Albania, Ingrid Macdonald.
Begaj expressed his appreciation for the contribution of the United Nations in Albania, especially the activity of this organization during the 2019 earthquake and the Covid-19 pandemic.
Bringing attention to the contribution to peace and security that Albania made during its mandate as a member of the Security Council for the period 2022-2023, as well as the role it is currently playing as a member of the Human Rights Council, President Begaj emphasized that Albania proved its values in this regard, as a co-sponsor with the United States of America.
The President also expressed his satisfaction with the role that Albania is currently playing as a member of the UN Women Executive Board (2025), as well as in the position of Vice-President on its Governing Board.
President Begaj welcomed the United Nations initiatives in Albania, especially those focused on rural and peripheral areas, advising and appreciating the attention paid to young people, creating conditions and facilities for them to live and work in the country.
