The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, taking the trigger from the murder of 28-year-old Novrus Cenalia, declared from the floor of the Assembly that the country needs a new criminal policy. He called on justice to impartially investigate the murder of the police officer in Fier, and to give exemplary punishment to the perpetrator.
The Minister of the Interior stated that disobeying legal orders to State Police employees constitutes a criminal offense, emphasizing that if a police officer calls you or asks you to leave, disobedience is punished. Balla said that the standard regarding the authority of the police officer should be increased.
Balla said that the punishment of justice for anyone who stands up against the uniformed employee should be severe, as provided for in the Criminal Code.
"If the citizen thinks that he is right while the Police officer is wrong, the citizen has every right and even has all the mechanisms to appeal the decision of the Police in administrative and judicial ways. But any act of opposition cannot and should not be tolerated. The police officer's call is a call to action. Whoever does not agree with the order or decision of the Police officer, get a lawyer.
The Assembly has done its duty by approving the legal acts. We need to set a new standard regarding the authority of the State Police employee.
We, the Assembly and the government together with the society, must never accept cases where even the deputies are involved when they are pushed to insult, threaten, threaten with violence and endangering the lives of State Police employees. It is time to give concrete examples of the implementation according to the letter and the spirit of the Penal Code, setting a new standard for anyone who raises his hand against the State Police employee. This should happen everywhere, without any hesitation.
