Following the resignation of Ermal Dredha on September 10, the Vlora Municipal Council has elected today, September 22, 2025, Elis Halili as the acting mayor of the Municipality. Halili, an engineer and one of the current deputy mayors of the municipality, was proposed by the socialist members of the Council.
In his first speech after being elected acting mayor of the Municipality of Vlora, Elis Halili said that his focus during this transitional period will be the implementation of all projects that make the lives of citizens better.
"I would like all the councilors to be in this hall. I want you to understand that everyone in this hall is a citizen of Vlora. I am Elis Halili, I was born and raised in the city of Vlora. I am a construction engineer. I have been in the city of Vlora for 7 years. I have led and been part of the implementation of projects in this city. For me, it is a pleasure and an obligation that all the members of the municipal council have trusted me to be one of the vice mayors to lead the municipality in this transitional period. Our main focus during this transitional period will be on the implementation of all projects that make the lives of all citizens better."
Amidst debates and after the boycott of opposition councilors, the Vlora Municipal Council elected Elis Halili as interim Mayor of the Municipality of Vlora.
