The Conference of Speakers, convened by Niko Peleshi, where the composition of parliamentary committees and substitute members is expected to be approved, has produced debates between representatives of the ruling party and the opposition.
At the meeting, the opposition presented a request for a motion of no confidence against Niko Pelesh, elected Speaker of Parliament on September 11, the date when the new parliamentary term began. But for the Socialists, this request is unfounded.
"The request is unfounded," said Taulant Balla, head of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, rejecting the opposition's proposal.
On the other hand, Agron Gjekmarkaj, the Democratic Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, accused the Socialist Party of aiming to annihilate the opposition in the Parliament. Gjekmarkaj said that the opposition is being closed off from every space in the Albanian Parliament.
But on the other hand, Balla said that Peleshi has implemented the Assembly's regulations and has not committed any violations, as claimed by the opposition.
The opposition's stance
DP MP Agron Gjekmarkaj requested the renewal of the session for the presentation of the government program and the vote of confidence in the cabinet.
Gjekmarkaj accused the majority of provocations against the opposition, while presenting the opposition's request for the dismissal of the Speaker of the Assembly, Niko Peleshi.
Ironically for 'Diella', Agron Gjekmarkaj said that "you could bring Rex the Dog and present him as the Minister of Interior so that he would bark for 10 minutes."
" You are in for a rematch. Today, the leader of the DP group is missing here. Instead of creating conditions with political orders, you are trying to annihilate the opposition and the parliament. You, the leader, appear as an assassin. You are minimizing every space for the opposition.
You excluded the opposition from the integration process and you did this in the first session. In the second session where you did not want to show the government, you provoked the opposition. You, the speaker, have undone parliamentarism. The opposition demands a repeat of the session and you must immediately convene the Legislative Council for a motion to dismiss you.
Parliamentarism requires awareness and seriousness. Tomorrow you can bring Rex the Dog and present him as Minister of the Interior to bark for 10 minutes. In the socialist majority there are only 2 freedoms today. The freedom to be servile and the freedom to serve. Friendly advice, take measures because there will be consequences , "said Gjekmarkaj.
Reaction from the SP
The Socialists have taken a firm stance at the Conference of Speakers, rejecting the opposition's demands for a repeat of the September 18 parliamentary session, where the composition and program of the Government were approved amidst chaos, but also for the dismissal of Niko Peles as Speaker of the Assembly.
Taulant Balla, on behalf of the majority, said that the requests are unfounded. Balla described the position held by Peleshi in the session as in accordance with the rules.
" The mayor is only implementing the regulations, he has not committed any violations. Your request is unfounded ," Balla said.
