Vlora Municipal Council elects Ermal Dredha's deputy

Elis Halili has been selected as the interim mayor of Vlora following the resignation of Ermal Dredha from the position.

The Vlora Municipal Council met at around 10:00 this morning.

Elis Halili ran against Klea Lalo and Irena Toshkallari for the position of interim mayor of Vlora until the next elections.

The vote for the 3 names was secret, and at the end of the process, Elis Halili was elected as Ermal Dredha's replacement.

It was precisely Elis Halili, who was appointed just a few days ago as vice mayor, a few minutes before Dredha's resignation, who is currently responsible for projects and infrastructure in the city.

The meeting was accompanied by debates, as one of the members of the Socialist Party requested to elect Elis Halili without a secret ballot, while the Democratic Party group opposed it.

Dredha took office as mayor of Vlora in 2023. At that time, he replaced Dritan Leli.
