Due to the cyber attack with the Randsamvhere virus against BKS, the data of expatriates was mainly compromised. Expats are required to change their card and online payment passwords for security reasons.
Sami Mazreku, the illegal director of the Kosovo Insurance Bureau (BKS), installed without competition by former deputy governor Sokol Havolli and with the tacit approval of Fehmi Mehmet (former governor), is continuing the saga of illegalities. The BKS office has been the target of cyber attacks this year. The attack was also reported by the Kosovo Police.
As a result of this attack, the data of citizens and mainly the diaspora have passed into the hands of criminal groups, but this case has not been reported to the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK). IT experts warn that citizens should take measures to exchange credit card data for security reasons.
Mazrek, being involved in the cyber attack, possibly orchestrated by him, immediately endangers the data of thousands of citizens and expatriates, who are now forced to take measures to change cards for security reasons, may also bring financial consequences because for violations of personal data, the law foresees lawsuits and citizens can flood the courts and the state can lose financially from a criminal action by Sami Mazrek.
Moreover, expatriates and citizens of Kosovo are potentially at risk from what is called social observation or Social Hacking, and through this also endangering their financial income. Information technology expert Flamur Doli has stated that with this attack, the possession of this data is already in the hands of criminal groups that have attacked the system, although the epilogue of the investigations by the State Police is still unknown, only that there is confirmation that the case is in investigations.
" I think that the flow of personal data should be reported in time and I can't wait until the investigations are closed, so that everyone can take measures individually to minimize the damage. Otherwise, the consequences can be unimaginable ", wrote Doli on his Facebook social network.
Another well-known IT expert, Ermal Sadiku, came out with a call. He has asked the citizens, mainly the diaspora, to change their data.
" The attack was also reported by the Kosovo Police, which in all likelihood has been dealing with this attack for some time now. I had asked you that until this is clarified and it is well understood how much the personal data that is in KSK has been compressed, to change all those data that you can change. Technically, I don't have any information about which of your data are stored on the BSK servers and whether these data were stolen or exposed during the attack, but the damages can be very large", Sadiku stated .
Scandalous is the fact that this attack was not reported to the CBK, this institution that supervises the BKS according to the Law, which means that the illegal director Mazreku kept this attack hidden until it became public. Whether the CBK and the Insurance Companies will take measures to dismiss this person remains enigmatic because he has connections with certain persons, but that he will be brought to justice is not in doubt since he has committed a series of legal violations that the prosecution is investigating./ Pamphlet
