The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, during a media conference, spoke about the case of the murder of Liridona Ademaj and the kidnapping and then the murder of the 14-year-old in Skopje.
Kurti said that "the ordered murder of Liridona Ademaj by her husband and the kidnapping of the 14-year-old in Skopje have weighed on everyone's minds and hearts.
Kurti informed that the orderers and killers of Liridona Ademaj have been caught and put behind bars, but said that only the arrest is not enough.
The Prime Minister of Kosovo states that the Courts should treat cases of violence against women and girls with priority and that the punishment they deserve should be given.
"The recent murders, the ordered murder of Liridona Ademaj by her husband and the kidnapping and murder of a 14-year-old girl in Skopje, have weighed on our minds and hearts. Liridona's orderlies and killers have been caught and put behind bars. As never before, the police are acting quickly and with high efficiency. But arrest alone is not enough. Because they know that there are similar and not few cases, when criminals are released and the crimes are repeated even worse than the first time. We need the entire justice system to prioritize cases of violence against girls and women. We have no way of saying that meritorious punishment is needed. The leniency of the sentence is causing the repetition of the crime. Justice is a necessary condition for a free and democratic society and what we aspire to remain forever", said Kurti.
